FAQs
What yoga classes are best for Beginners?
We recommend that you start with our Beginners Hatha Yoga classes. We teach you the names of poses, give you alignment and posture tips and cover the foundations of a yoga practise. You are also very welcome to try our Yin Yoga & Meditation classes as well as our Restorative Yoga & Meditation classes. Check here for more class information.
What should I bring to class?
Just yourself! We provide everything you need for your yoga class (even cups of tea and water). If you have a yoga mat that you’d prefer to use please bring it with you. Mats, bolsters, blankets and even lavender eye-bags are all available for you to use.
What yoga classes are safe for pregnancy?
Congrats Mama to be! We have a class just for you. Every Sunday 10.30-11.30am we run our Prenatal Yoga class. This class combines gentle movement, breathing techniques (pranayama), guided meditations and mindfulness practices for birth. You are welcome to practise Prenatal Yoga from 14 weeks onwards. You can read more about pregnancy yoga here.
What are the best classes for de-stressing?
All of them! It depends how you unwind best. Do you need deep relaxation and physical rest? Then consider joining our Restorative Yoga & Yin Yoga Classes. If you are an ‘Active Relaxer” and like to move then join a Hatha Yoga or Hatha Flow Yoga class. Yoga helps us to let go of tension, lower our stress levels, improve our mobility and flexibility and feel calmer. Enjoy the physical and mental benefits of yoga in a way that suits you.
Where are you located?
We are in the heart of Takapuna on the North Shore of Auckland! First Floor, 5 Huron Street Takapuna. Come up the stairs, make a right and follow the white OM symbol on the door. There is plenty of parking in the nearby Shore City mall (your first 3 hours are free), and metered parking in the surrounding streets.
Do you have changing rooms?
There are toilets on the landing with plenty of space to change if you are coming straight from work. If you can, we recommend arriving ready to flow. There is plenty of space to leave your belongings at the back of the studio. Come along 10 minutes before class for a cup of tea and to relax before your class.
Do I have to book online?
We keep our classes to a maximum of 15, so we encourage online bookings so that you do not miss out on a mat space. Head to our timetable page to book your place and we’ll have a mat set out for you when you arrive. We do not have a reception, so although we can take cash and debit card payments in the studio, to make the process as smooth as possible for yourself we recommend booking online or on the Mind Body App.
