~If you can’t figure out your purpose, figure out your passion. For your passion will lead you right into your purpose~

Yoga has had a profound and positive effect on my life since that first class over 15 years ago.
It fosters a wonderful sense of community, it’s taught me to accept, love and look after my body, it’s given me the tools to slow down and chill out when life inevitably gets a bit overwhelming or stressful and it’s made me a happier and healthier person.
Passion, purpose, mission, obsession, calling - it’s now all of these things.

After teaching for a number of years in Paris & London, I moved back to NZ with my partner and founded and opened the first Flourish Yoga NZ studio in August 2019.

I love to draw on my years of experience with various styles to create a light-hearted class that incorporates breath work, mindful movement, strength work to balance out the flexibility work, and lots of personalised adjustments to help each person delve deeper in their practise.

Classes are varied, but all leave you refreshed and re-energised. I am qualified to teach Mat Pilates, so you can expect lots of core strengthening sequences woven through my yoga flows. I am also certified to teach Pre & Postnatal Yoga to look after all the beautiful yoga mamas and yoga mamas to be.

Selina Gilbert

Selina is a dedicated yogini who is passionate about bringing the nourishing practice of yoga into everyday life.

Selina’s first experience with yoga was from tagging along to class with her mum when she was 15 – she immediately fell in love with the graceful movements and quietening in her mind.

This love grew deeper when she observed the enriching effects of yoga on her life ‘off the mat’ – physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. As a result, Selina completed a 2-year teaching apprenticeship, comprising 2,000 hours of intensive in-class training, culminating in registration as a Yoga Alliance 500 hours yoga teacher (RYT 500 hours) in 2009. With over 10 years of teaching experience, she has also gained accreditation as an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT 500 hours).

She hopes that her students will leave her class a lighter, freer, more authentic version of themselves.

Isabelle (Za) Idelon

Isabelle’s journey to Yoga began 29 years ago, when she was pregnant with her first son. But it wasn’t until she moved to NZ with her family 6 years ago that she really engaged with and embraced the practice of Yoga. After first experimenting with Kundalini Yoga, then with Vinyasa, she decided to complete her teacher training and has been teaching ever since...she describes it as life changing, like a homecoming!

Former midwife in France, she has this natural ability to hold space, compassionately accompanying people and letting them discover the infinite possibilities they have to grow through the practice of Yoga.

She encourages everyone to find ease through asanas and graceful transitions, creating a beautiful dance-like flow and a relaxed natural feel...all rocked by her melodic French accent. Her classes are prepared thoroughly so that each class has freshness, vitality, new insights and challenges, incorporating meditation, chanting and laughter!

Isabelle’s classes are nurturing, nourishing, fun and physically gratifying for all levels. Everyone leaves feeling better physically, mentally and spiritually. Her classes are a joy to be a part of!

Justin-David Durocher

Justin began his yoga journey over 10 years ago. Since then, he’s lived on 3 continents, practiced Hatha, Vinyasa, Yin and various Pranayama techniques (breathing styles) before deciding to make New Zealand his home.

Although he’s dabbled with Ashtanga yoga and his formal training was heavily rooted in this particular practice, he prefers an approach that provides freedom and can be adjusted for any practitioner. Justin has a knack for making a more dynamic practise accessible, and offers options and modifications in order to create an inclusive practice, suitable for all levels.

Justin likes to infuse some of the philosophies of yoga during his practice and honouring the wisdom that the west can benefit from. Holding space, focusing on breath and creatively bringing asanas (poses) together to raise body awareness and still the mind, his teaching style can help those progress in their own yoga journey.

If you're into finding a balance of mind, body and breath, whilst becoming stronger, more flexible and fearless on and off the mat, come and share your practice with Justin.

Laura Mckenzie

Laura found yoga at what she describes as “rock bottom” of her life. Looking for mental solace she found a yoga class, and from day one, she was hooked, noticing how quickly her “yoga” was reflecting in every aspect of life.

Quickly realising how much yoga had changed every layer of her life and relationships, Laura sought to become a teacher. and completed her Teacher Training with Adele Kinghan of Rise Yoga. At the core of Lauras intention to teach, was the desire to provide pregnant woman with strength and peace of mind, to birth their babies safely, and with ease, as this too would trickle into the baby’s experience. Since Lauras initial training, she has gone on to complete many other teaching certifications, including Prenatal & Postnatal Yoga, as well as the slower and more subtle practices of Yin & Restorative Yoga.

Attending one of Laura’s classes, you can expect to leave with a felt sense of embodiment, and feeling deeply nourished. Weaving in spiritual aspects of Chinese Medicine , you will experience a rounded practice, where each layer of your being is invited to move into balance, and if that is not possible, to soften into the flow of life.
